The sentinel node-procedure is now a valid treatment of breast cancer. The clinical application has been tested in multiple medical centers. The purpose of the procedure is to detect the presence of tumor tissue in the sentinel lymph-node as sign of axillary metastasis. Injections with patent blue and scintigraphy are performed preoperatively. No complications have been reported of this procedure other than temporary blue or green colored urine. We report a case with apparent methemoglobinemia after sentinel-node procedure in a patient with multifocal breast cancer.
